The Unit investigates and analyses the developments in the local, regional and international environment with a view to providing informed policy recommendations, macroeconomic analysis and modelling, compilation of Tobago Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data, evaluation and research of issues and opportunities surrounding labour productivity and competitiveness, inflation and price differentials, unemployment rate, and financing and sectoral development with strong emphasis on Tourism and Agriculture.
The highlights of the work of the Unit includes preparation of the Annual Budget Statement, the Tobago Social and Economic Statistical Digest, the Selected Statistics and Data Catalogue, Estimates of Tobago’s GDP, technical oversight for the development of the Comprehensive Economic Development Plan(CEDP) and the formulation of official reports for international rating agencies and other multi-lateral organisations.
